Hi Pollinator Pals!
A busy bee just told me that we are hosting another event at Hakanoa Reserve this Sunday! We will be having a Pollinator Park Preservation Party where we welcome our new pollinator residents, look after and extend their homes and learn about why these spaces are so important.
We will be meeting this Sunday 19th February at Hakanoa Reserve (36 Sackville St) from 1-4pm.
You can join our Facebook event here and share it with your friends: https://www.facebook.com/events/944997878964205/
Its early stages, but we have already had lots of pollinator visitors, the monarch butterflies are thriving and the bumble bee hive is buzzing!
We would love your help to keep the garden looking great, we will be watering, mulching, restocking the wall, creating an insect “hydration station”, checking out the new leaf-cutter bees and even making wildflower seed bombs!
Bring along your gardening gear, some rocks for the wall(any size!), food to share for a shared meal at the end and your friends and family to the Hakanoa Reserve and come and welcome our pollinators, celebrate summer and make a heap of new friends.
In other news, last Saturday we attended the Okura Forest Festival where we taught members of the Okura community about the importance of pollinators and what we are doing to help.
We had our table set up with lots of information about what we do.
We were even greeted by a friendly monarch as soon as we arrived!
We even had colouring sheets for the kids, these were some of our favourite colouring pictures by Ariel and Isla!
Please forward this blog post to any friends you have that might be interested in coming along.
Looking forward to seeing many of you on Sunday!
Your pollinator pals,
Andrea + Chantelle
