Grey Lynn's first installation is proposed to be in Hakanoa Reserve and would have a combination of different planting for different pollinators in the top triangular section along Sackville Street. It would also include a cascading masonry wall that would be filled with a range of different materials that are specially picked to attract and home different pollinators. We will be working with local school children, community groups and neighbours to create the Pollinator Park beside the new Greenway (cycleway/walkway) between Sackville Street and Hakanoa Street.
The Pollinator wall is made of masonry bricks with a modular habitat design. It has just been constructed and is now awaiting school children to collect and install the habitat materials.
Each module will need to be filled with special materials such as twigs, leaves, bamboo, clay, sand, stones, drilled wood, ceramics and pine cones, children will be able to collect these materials and bring them to the volunteer day on October 1st 2016 to fill the modular holes in the wall.
If you would like your school to get involved, please get in contact and distribute this pamphlet to them!
